INFO
During his stay, the artist studies the house, its history and architecture. He also conducts research and excursions in and around Brixen, developing ideas for a new artistic work for the Lasserhaus. The shape, size and placement of the work is at the artist’s discretion. At the end of the residency, the artist submits a written conceptual proposal (in the form of sketches, ideas, or models) and discusses the resulting idea with the Lasserhaus managers.
The Viertel Group then decides whether to commission the artist for the detailed design and realization of the work. If the work is commissioned, the artist gets a separate commission in which the artist’s fee and production costs are determined. The finished work becomes part of the Lasserhaus collection. If no commission is awarded, ideas developed by the artist during the residency will be transferred to the Lasserhaus in the form of a sketch, text or model and may be used for documentary purposes.
The assignment to the artist includes:
- A conceptual idea for an artistic work
- Sketches
- Specifications of materials/ideas
- Estimated cost of implementation
FEE
Accommodation and breakfast are free of charge for program participants, as well as the evening meal (hot meal and non-alcoholic drink), which can be consumed in Lasserhaus partner facilities. The artist residency will be documented and communicated through the house’s various communication channels. The artist thus receives increased visibility as part of the project. During the residency, the Lasserhaus organizes various meetings with the aim of enabling the artist to learn more about the building, its architecture, and the city. There is no monetary compensation for the residency or the project idea.
AUTHOR'S RIGHTS, COPYRIGHT AND PUBLICATION
The patron has the right to publish the intellectual work (idea). The artist’s name must be given, but he/she is not entitled to compensation. The artist has the right to publish his work without restriction. When submitting drawings, the artist, as mentioned above, assures that he/she is the author of the submitted work, that the work has not yet been created anywhere, and that it will not be copied elsewhere in case of a further commission.
